Former Ottawa Senator Dominik Kubalik Signs Overseas
Dominik Kubalik has finally found a team, but it's not in the NHL. The Czechia native has returned to the Swiss National League on a one-year deal and signed with HC Ambri-Piotta, the team he played for before coming over to the NHL.Dominik Kubalik has signed with HC Ambrì Piotta in Switzerland -- marking a return to the club after five seasons in the NHL.— Chris Johnston (@reporterchris) September 4, 2024Kubalik recorded 25 goals and 57 points in 50 games in 2018-19 and was named MVP while with HC Ambri-Piotta before joining the Chicago Blackhawks, scoring 30 goals and 46 points in 68 games, and finishing as a finalist for the Calder Trophy.Kubalik's NHL career went downhill from there, only reaching 20 goals once in the following four seasons and ending last season in Ottawa with just 11 goals and 15 points in 74 games. It wasn't all that shocking that he didn't receive a contract, but a PTO was definitely a possibility as he still has goal-scoring ability. This doesn't end the 29-year-old career in the NHL as his contract is only one year. He is potentially hoping he can dominate the league again and earn another shot on an NHL club. If a team needs goals, Kubalik has proven that if he can do one thing, it's put the puck in the back of the net.Photo credit: © Marc DesRosiers-Imagn Images...
