Ovechkin gets 802nd goal for Capitals, passes Howe for 2nd in NHL history

WASHINGTON -- Alex Ovechkin tied and passed Gordie Howe for second on the NHL goals list by scoring his 801st and 802nd for the Washington Capitals against the Winnipeg Jets at Capital One Arena on Friday. "Yeah, it's great to be in this company, and obviously it's pretty special," Ovechkin told NBC Sports Washington at first intermission. Rittich is the 166th goalie Ovechkin has scored against; only Jaromir Jagr (178) and Patrick Marleau have scored on more in NHL history. The 37-year-old left wing, in his 18th NHL season, tied Howe in his 1,308th regular-season game, all with Washington. Ovechkin scored his 786th goal that night to tie Gordie for the most NHL goals with one team, then broke the record two nights later by scoring No. 787 against the Arizona Coyotes....
