Team Canada Names General Manager And Head Coach
1 week ago  /  NHL Trade Rumors

Team Canada has announced that Shane Doan will be their general manager for the Olympics, while Claude Julien will be the team's head coach. With that, Jeremy Colliton, Nolan Baumgartner, and Tyler Dietrich have also been named as assistant coaches. Initially, Jon Cooper of the Tampa Bay Lightning was set to be Canada's head coach, and St. Louis' Doug Armstrong was going to be the general manager. However, due to the NHL pulling out of the Olympics, they had to as well. Now, Canada has their replacements, and they picked good ones at that. Doan is currently chief hockey development officer of the Arizona Coyotes and participated in the World Championships five different times in his playing career. This is a great opportunity for the 45-year-old to show what he can do whilst holding a general manager position.Julien comes with a plethora of coaching experience. In 1,275 career games in the role, he has a 667-455-10-152 record. He last coached at the NHL level with the Montreal Canadiens during the 2020-21 season. However, he was fired 18 games into the campaign. He also led the Boston Bruins to their Stanley Cup win in 2011. Now, we will have to wait and see who Canada picks for their roster. Photo Credit: © Patrick Breen/The Republic...
