NHL Rumors: Buffalo Sabres Trade Talks Heating Up
The Buffalo Sabres continue to receive trade calls on many of their pending free agents and deals are expected to transpire before the March 21 trade deadline. While the likes of Colin Miller, Cody Eakin, Robert Hagg and others garner interest, general manager Kevyn Adams is working to fill a specific need. The Sabres are trying to locate a goalie who can start the majority of games for next season and haven't left any stones unturned. Adams has been busy trying to find out who is available and what asking prices are like and could reach a deal for a new netminder before late March. Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff showcased the Sabres earlier this week and had this to say in his column: It’s been the Season of Six Goalies for the Sabres, who seemingly can’t find a healthy body to run with the ball for a while. We probably could have seen that coming, though, with 40-year-old Craig Anderson and Aaron Dell both inked to twin league-minimum salaries to start the season. There wasn’t much investment made in the position. For the Sabres to be competitive next year and beyond, they’ll need a netminder who can hold down the fort until Devon Levi is ready to take over.Levi, who was acquired as part of the Sam Reinhart deal with the Florida Panthers last season is currently with Team Canada at the Olympics. It's unsure what type of role he'll play in their crease but surely the experience of a lifetime will benefit his development. As for NHL options the Sabres have discussed Joonas Korpisalo from the Columbus Blue Jackets, Pavel Francouz from the Colorado Avalanche and Anton Forsberg from the Ottawa Senators.Photo credit: David Kirouac-USA TODAY Sports ...
