NHL Rumors: Kraken To Trade 2 Forwards

2 years ago  /  NHL Trade Rumors

With the Seattle Kraken sporting an 11-23-4 record, it is clear that they are destined to be sellers at the trade deadline. Two forwards who they are expected to trade are Calle Jarnkrok and Mason Appleton, according to Eric Duhatschek.Jarnkrok is the kind of third-line forward that playoff teams should find appealing. The 30-year-old offers immense versatility, as he can play all three forward positions well. In 27 games this season, he has five goals, seven assists, and a minus-10 rating. He showed last season, however, that he is capable of being a bigger scoring threat. In 49 contests with the Nashville Predators, he scored 13 goals and had 28 total points. Perhaps the Predators could elect to bring him back as a rental for their inevitable playoff run. If not them, someone else has to.Appleton has an expiring contract like Jarnkrok, but will instead be eligible for restricted free agency. Yet, Duhatschek notes in his piece that it's still very likely that the Kraken will trade him by the deadline. In 24 games this season, the 26-year-old forward has two goals, four helpers, and a minus-6 rating. However, he did have a 25-point campaign in 56 games last season with the Winnipeg Jets. Therefore, he has the potential to produce more and could do just that on a new team. When looking at how low in the standings the Kraken are, it will not be surprising to see them shop more players than just these two.
