Bruins Analyst Speaks On Why Swayman Still Unsigned
Fans and followers of the Boston Bruins might be starting to panic a little, voicing some concerns over why Jeremy Swayman remains unsigned. The team has traded his hug-buddy Linus Ullmark, and both Swayman and management declined arbitration. What baffles me about this whole Jeremy Swayman unsigned situation is that Sweeney and the front office didn’t already have a hush hush handshake agreement with Swayman’s camp before trading Ullmark#NHLBruins | @BruinSomethin— Michael Sullivan (@_MikeSullivan) July 17, 2024 The weather is beautiful today. Jeremy Swayman should sign today #NHLBruins #GetBent #SignSway pic.twitter.com/MoZJP2E9Rr— Bruins Benders Podcast (@BruinsBenders) July 19, 2024If I were Don Sweeney, today is not the day to announce the Swayman extension. What's the deal with the Bruins and Jeremy Swayman's contract? Razor: "It's going to get done!" What does Andrew "Razor" Raycroft think about the Bruins offseason thus far? @WEEI pic.twitter.com/ejtn0mrJAt— The Greg Hill Show (@TheGregHillShow) July 19, 2024Former Bruins goalie and current NESN analyst Andrew Raycroft says not to worry, Boston fans:"It's gonna get done. This year, the Stanley Cup finals went all the way to the end, then there was three days till the draft, three days till free agency, three days to development camp, and (then) everybody's gone. Everybody has their phones off, everybody is taking some time, this is the three or four weeks right now of the season actually being off. "It's gonna get done... They've gone through this a little bit last season, so, the business side of it, they know where each other stands... and fortunately, for Jeremy, he knows he's very important and wants to be paid as such."As for that "business side of it" last season, that would be arbitration, that Swayman came out of not exactly pleased, having heard things said about him by his own team that he didn't like hearing. Hence, the reason he simply declined arbitration this year. What will an extension look like for the restricted free agent? According to many, it will likely be north of a $9 million AAV. Swayman nudged ahead of his co-conspirator in the Boston net this season, essentially taking the top job from Ullmark, as the 25-year-old started 12 of the Bruins' 13 playoff games, and 43 regular season games compared to Ullmark's 39. Swayman posted a .916 save percentage a 2.53 goals against, with a 25-10-8 mark.Photo: © Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports...
