Logan O’Connor locked down for six years

The Mayor of Denver is here to stay. Colorado Avalanche forward Logan O’Connor has signed a new six-year contract. His new deal will keep him in the Mile High City through the end of the 2030-31 season when he is 34 years old.

The former DU Pioneer will continue to play for his boyhood team for the foreseeable future. LOC’s current deal was due to expire at the end of this season, making him a free agent heading into the 2025-26 season. His signing is the first big free-agent signing for next year, as the Avs are still working on a deal for Mikko Rantanen.
O’Connor only played in 57 games last year, totaling 13 goals and 12 assists. He missed the remainder of the season and playoffs due to hip surgery. He is a player who is known for his speed and tenacity, something Jared Bednar and fans have come to love. After recovering from surgery, getting married, and preparing for the start of the regular season, it has been an offseason to remember for LOC.
The American forward’s deal is measured at six years and $2.5 million AAV. It’s very similar to Miles Wood’s contract at the moment, where it is a longer-term deal with less money taken. With the connection and chemistry the two have together both on and off the ice, you have to wonder if Wood was a big determining factor in LOC’s new contract.
