Sharks Rumors: Defenseman Becoming Trade Candidate
The San Jose Sharks are in the middle of a rebuild and will surely be sellers at the trade deadline because of it. When noting that teams will be looking to add defensemen before the playoffs, one player who is emerging as a prime trade candidate is Matt Benning. While Benning is not a star, he is a serviceable bottom-pairing defenseman who plays a heavy game and can kill penalties. Because of this, he certainly could be a popular player on the trade market as we get closer to the trade deadline, especially when more of the bigger names are no longer available. Benning also has an easily affordable contract, so that also makes him an appealing trade target. Due to this, there should be some playoff teams willing to bring him in before the deadline passes. We will now need to wait and see what happens with Benning this season from here. Some teams who could consider bringing him in include the New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and Florida Panthers. photo credit: © Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports...
