Mason Appleton signs a 3 year contract

The Winnipeg Jets have signed Mason Appleton to a three year contract which allows them to avoid arbitration and keep him at a reasonable price. It is fair to assume the Jets never wanted to lose Appleton in the Seattle Kraken expansion draft. They traded for him at this past season’s trade deadline and now have signed him to a new contract that will theoretically keep him in Winnipeg for the next three seasons.
Appleton was at his best when he was on a line with Andrew Copp and Adam Lowry. He is a fine player, but was really on another level when he was with those two. While that is no longer an option as Andrew Copp is now a Detroit Red Wing, but Adam Lowry is still here and can combine with Appleton to make 2⁄3 of a solid third line. The Jets will just need to find a solid third component to make the line work like it used it. If they can do that, this contract could end up looking very solid. ...
