Report: "A Number of Teams Willing" to Offer Sheet Cole Perfetti

2 weeks ago  /  NHL Trade Rumors

We saw earlier this month that the era of the 'Offer Sheet' is far from over. The St. Louis Blues swooped in and nabbed two key parts of the Edmonton Oilers lineup by signing Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway to offer sheets, which the Oil declined to match. With a number of other remaining unsigned RFAs, is there a risk of another offer sheet coming along?According to NHL Network Radio's Dave McCarthy, his sources tell him that there are some clubs out there considering trying to poach Cole Perfetti of the Winnipeg Jets:What I can tell you is that there are a number of teams that would be willing to offer Cole Perfetti an offer sheet for two years, in and around a $4.5 million AAV. The key words, though, according to McCarthy, are "willing to." He admits that they're "not likely to do it" because they know that "the Winnipeg Jets, in a heartbeat, in a heartbeat, would match an offer sheet of two years, $4.5 million."But McCarthy adds that the very potential of those teams' willingness to do so has gotten Perfetti to the $4.5M price point in his talks with the Jets, calling the potential offers sheets "a tool for Cole Perfetti to use to go to Winnipeg and say, 'look there are a number of teams that are willing to give me an offer sheet at 4 1/2, so that’s my market, pay me the money.'"And based on all that background, he indicates that that sort of bridge deal is pretty much exactly where Perfetti & the Jets will land. The youngster had a rollercoaster season: up in the first half, with 29 points in 40 games, but screeching downhill in the second half, with just 9 points, and a number of healthy scratches. Photo: © Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports...
