Blackhawks Sign Forward To Extension

2 years ago  /  NHL Trade Rumors

Although the Chicago Blackhawks are rebuilding, it appears that they aren't against keeping some players from their current roster past this season. The team has re-signed Sam Lafferty to a two-year, $2.3 million contract. Lafferty was acquired by the Blackhawks from the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier this season. So far, he has been a pretty decent addition to Chicago's bottom six. In 45 games as a Blackhawk thus far, he has five goals and six helpers. With that, he has been a force physically, as he has a whopping 105 hits with the squad. Lafferty was set to be an unrestricted free agent but has instead elected to stay with the rebuilding squad. It will be intriguing to see how the 27-year-old performs from here, but at the end of the day, it's excellent that he has landed this multi-year deal. Photo Credit: © Gary A.
