Adam Henrique Turned Down More Money From Oilers Rival to Re-Sign

How much did Adam Henrique enjoy his time in Edmonton last season? Enough that when it came time to re-sign as an unrestricted free agent this summer, he turned down more money from an Edmonton Oilers Canadian rival in order to re-sign with Connor McDavid & Co.According to Kurt Leavins of The Edmonton Journal, Henrique said, essentially,  'thanks, but no thanks' to the Winnipeg Jets. A contact of mine in Winnipeg who has knowledge of the conversations says that Adam Henrique turned down a 2-year, $3.5M contract from the Winnipeg Jets at free agency this summer.Henrique instead chose to re-sign with the Oilers at two years with a $3 million AAV. The chance to try to run it back with the Western Conference champs was worth the $1 million he gave up over the next two years, apparently.The 13-year veteran took on a reduced role after he was traded to Edmonton from the Anaheim Ducks at the deadline in March. After recording 18 goals with 42 points in 60 games for the Ducks in 17:35 minutes per game, his time on ice dropped by nearly 3 minutes with the Oilers to an average of 14:50, while he managed six goals and nine points in 22 games.
