An old face comes back to Colorado. Jacob MacDonald is back with the Colorado Avalanche organization.
He is returning from the San Jose Sharks, where he was traded to the Bay Area in the 2022-23 season. In 34 games last season with the Sharks, he recorded seven goals and two assists. His deal is for two years at a league minimum of $775,000.

MacDonald is nothing special. He is still the same player he was a couple of years ago when he was with the Avalanche. He will likely be a player the Avs can rely on when called upon. Don’t expect him to jump onto the fourth line or on the bottom defensive pairing.
If anything, he will be both a 13th forward and a seventh defenseman while likely spending a lot of time as a veteran presence in Loveland with the Colorado Eagles. The 31-year-old will also get to move back into his old home in the area, which he had been leasing out to other Eagles players while he was in San Jose.

It’s an interesting move, to say the least, by Chris MacFarland in what has been a busy day for the Avs front office. Where do you see MacDonald spending most of his time this season? Let us know in the comments below!
