Boston Bruins Reach Settlement to Terminate Prospect's Contract
According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, the Boston Bruins finalized their divorce of disgraced prospect Mitchell Miller back in a February settlement between the two sides. It all started back in November of 2022, when the Bruins decided to sign Miller to a three-year NHL entry-level contract. It shocked the entire hockey world as Miller had a troubled past. At 14 years old, he pled guilty to one count of assault and one count of violating the Ohio Safe Schools Act for conducting a series of vile acts in a racially motivated manner against a developmentally challenged classmate.Boston wasn't the only team to get involved with Miller over the years as the Arizona Coyotes made headlines, drafting him in the fourth round of the 2020 draft. His rights were denounced by the franchise three weeks after the draft. The post has now confirmed the Bruins organization cited they have parted ways with Miller and he is no longer under contract with the team. From there report:Slap Shots has been told the Bruins immediately terminated Miller’s contract in conjunction with their disassociation from him. There is, however, no record of the team placing him on unconditional waivers for the purpose of termination as required by the CBA. Then too, that regulation applies to mutually agreed termination, which this was not. The NHLPA, in turn, filed a grievance. We have learned that in lieu of a hearing, the parties reached a settlement under which Boston was released from its obligation while Miller received an unknown sum and was granted free agency. As Brooks points out, look for Miller to try and catch on playing hockey in Europe.Photo credit: Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports...
