The junior A hockey circuit had intended to begin a shortened campaign in early December but were forced to scrap those plans after a provincial social-distancing order prohibiting people 19 and older from playing team sports. Those restrictions, brought in to slow the spread of the disease, were set to expire on Monday, but B.C.’s provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, faced with surging case numbers and a growing provincial death toll, chose to extend the order until Jan. 8. We remain committed to exploring every option available to us to start our season safely and as soon as possible, including presenting the concept of a BCHL hub. We look forward to getting things going again in January with all of our players back on the ice,” said BCHL chairman Graham Fraser.
