The Calgary Flames Continue Winning

On this evening, they saluted a franchise legend.

In their next outing, the Calgary Flames will be shooting to make a little franchise history.

The Saddledome hosts spoiled Mark Giordano’s special night Saturday, extending their remarkable roll as they scratched out a 2-1 victory over their longtime team captain and the rest of the Seattle Kraken.

The Flames have now triumphed in nine straight and are on the brink of matching the longest winning streak in club lore. The record books show a pair of 10-game heaters — one back in the Atlanta days and another in 2017.

“We just want to win. You want to keep winning,” said Flames netminder Jacob Markstrom. “I don’t think anyone is looking at that (record), but we want to keep the momentum and keep getting two points. That’s the only thing that matters right now. Just have a short memory and look at the next game and get ready.”
