Preview: The Martin Necas era begins in Boston

The new-look Colorado Avalanche don’t have a long time to adjust.
As the Colorado Avalanche embark on their first east coast road trip of the calendar year, they will encounter an unusual quirk in the schedule of back-to-back matinee games. First up is a meeting with the Boston Bruins before heading to New York.
The biggest storyline of the day (decade?) is the shocking trade of Mikko Rantanen and what that does to the Avalanche lineup both in this contest and beyond. Perhaps Martin Necas and Jack Drury will get to Boston in time to make their Avalanche debut.
Colorado Avalanche
After two consecutive losses at home the Avalanche will be glad to see the road for a little while, especially considering the new players need to bond with their new teammates. Miles Wood is expected back sometime soon but perhaps not today.

Boston Bruins
The Bruins have had an up-and-down season. Winners of four of their last six but also endured a six-game losing streak prior to that. As always they are headlined by superstar David Pastrnak who leads the team with 56 points.

Considering this is a matinee game with no morning skate, starting goaltenders won’t be known until game time. With a game tomorrow expect to see MacKenzie Blackwood and Scott Wegewood each get starts but which one goes first is anyone’s guess. As for Boston, their starter Jeremy Swayman is likely to take the net if he is over his minor injury. ...
