Penguins Rumors: Matt Grzelcyk Becoming Prime Trade Candidate

It has been a disappointing season for the Pittsburgh Penguins, and they have already started selling because of it. Marcus Pettersson and Drew O'Connor were recently dealt to the Vancouver Canucks, but they are undoubtedly not done yet.One Penguins player who is standing out as a prime trade candidate as we get closer to the March 7 NHL Trade Deadline is defenseman Matt Grzelcyk.Grzelcyk is a pending unrestricted free agent on the Penguins who is quietly in the middle of a strong offensive season. In 57 games this season, he has one goal and has set new career highs with 27 assists and 28 points. This was after he had just two goals and 11 points in 63 games this past season with the Boston Bruins.Teams in need of more offense from the point could consider taking a shot on Grzelcyk. While his best fit on a contender is likely on the bottom pairing at this stage, he can move up to a bigger role if needed. In addition, he would give teams another option to consider on the blueline for their power play. It will be fascinating to see what happens with Grzelcyk and the Penguins, but a trade certainly cannot be ruled out, given where the Penguins are at right now. photo credit: © David Gonzales-Imagn Images...
