If the Bruins really wanted to be aggressive this offseason, they are probably in a position to add both Yandle and fellow bought-out defenceman Ryan Suter to the mix, which would suddenly turn their left side from a series of question marks beyond Matt Gryzelcyk to a trio that fits in nicely 1-2-3 on the depth chart.

Gryzelcyk can play alongside McAvoy, Suter with Carlo and Yandle would play the protected minutes on the third pair that he needs to be effective. It means the Bruins won’t have to pony up to sign pending UFA Mike Reilly to an extension and the real challenge will be to convince the Kraken that the defenceman they need from Boston is either Jeremy Lauzon or Jakub Zboril, not Clifton.

Otherwise, the left-right balance skews. But in a world where nothing is going to come easy in the NHL trading/signing game, that seems at least doable.
