Comment on Bruins Brief: Montgomery Fired; Grim Updates on Ovechkin, Matthews Injuries by Dave
I agree with the decision to fire Jim Montgomery, as he clearly had lost control of his players. That being said, the Bruins players are PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES, most of whom make millions of dollars annually for PLAYING A GAME!!! For God’s sakes, they shouldn’t require a disciplinarian coach to motivate them, or a touchy-feely type coach to coddle them! I place the blame for the underperforming Bruins where it belongs - on the players themselves. They should be hustling, giving 100% effort every single shift of every single game, to justify the obscene salaries they earn. It’s too bad that the salaries of professional athletes aren’t affected by poor performance and a lack of effort. If the Bruins players aren’t willing to hustle then bench them, send them to the minors, and bring up more hungry players from their farm system who WILL give 100% effort. The Bruins are an embarrassment right now....
