Rumor: Stars May Buyout Veteran Goalie

The Dallas Stars may buyout Ben Bishop to keep Anton Khudobin from being selected by the Seattle Kraken, according to Frank Seravalli. Due to the fact that Bishop has a no-movement clause, he automatically will be protected in the Expansion Draft if they keep him. At this time, it is unsure if Bishop would be willing to waive it to be exposed, too/A Bishop buyout may be the best course of action for the Stars, as losing Khudobin for nothing would be difficult. Furthermore, Bishop missed the entirety of this past season to recover from off-season surgery, but did skate with the team at the end of the season. After being out for so much time, there is no certainty that he will be the same goalie moving forward. With two years left at a $4.92 million cap hit, that may spell trouble. Keep in mind, he is also 34-years-old. If the Stars elect to buyout Bishop, they would be able to save some money.
