Batherson of Senators injured on hit by Sabres goalie Dell
- OTTAWA -- Drake Batherson will miss the 2022 Honda NHL All-Star Game after the Ottawa Senators forward injured his ankle on a hit from Buffalo Sabres goalie Aaron Dell on Tuesday.
- "It's a bad play by the goalie," Senators coach D.J.
- "It's a bad play and it's an unfortunate thing that a young kid's not going to be able to go to an All-Star Game," Smith said.
- Smith did not give a specific timeline for Batherson's recovery but said the forward will be out for "a little bit of time, for sure." He said Batherson will be sidelined a lot longer than Senators forward Dylan Gambrell, who sustained an upper-body injury Tuesday and is expected to be out one week.
- Batherson scored Tuesday and leads the Senators with 34 points (13 goals, 21 assists) in 31 games.
- Batherson was the only Ottawa player selected to the All-Star Game.
