Ottawa Senators & Dallas Stars Linked In Blockbuster Trade Proposal

1 week ago  /  NHL Trade Rumors

According to Jeff Marek of Daily Faceoff, if the Ottawa Senators want to make a serious splash ahead of the NHL's trade deadline, perhaps they should consider making a significant trade offer for Dallas Stars' forward Jason Robertson. It's unknown whether or not Robertson is even in play, as GM Jim Nill has been busy upgrading his roster, selling off a first-round pick to get both Cody Ceci and Mikael Granlund. However, if the deal makes sense, Nill is normally willing to listen.Jeff Marek suggests Jason Robertson could be on Ottawa’s radar.“I mean if (Ottawa) is really swinging for the fence, and you want the blockbuster, you could see if you can get Jason Robertson from the stars”. #GoSensGo #TexasHockey https://t.co/lxdPOQ5ETO pic.twitter.com/N1XDGyJZKL— Sens SACKboy (@BouchSens) February 12, 2025 Robertson, 25, is signed through the 2025-26 season at $7.75 million AAV, and will be a restricted free agent once his contract expires. So far this year, he's scored 20 goals and 51 points in 55 games, and was surprisingly left off the Team USA's 4 Nations team. He does not have any trade protection on his contract. As far as potential trade candidates in this deal from the Senators, Drake Batherson has an affordable contract at $4.97 million AAV for two more seasons, and has 45 points in 56 games, as well as Shane Pinto, who has 22 points in 46 games this year, and owns a $3.75 million cap hit through next season.Whether it's Robertson or not, the Senators are expected to upgrade their roster ahead of the March 7 trade deadline, as the team has finally climbed the standings this season, and has a real shot at winning a playoff series for the first time, in a long time.Photo credit: © Jerome Miron-Imagn Images...
