Flyers sign G Samuel Ersson to ELC

Another goalie joins the fray... The Flyers have signed their 2018 5th round pick, Swedish goaltender Samuel Ersson, to an entry level contract, the club announced on twitter:

Ersson, 21, improved upon his 2019-20 season markedly this past year. Playing for Brynäs IF of Sweden’s SHL (the same SHL team that Oskar Lindblom played for), Ersson posted a 0.911% save percentage in the regular season, much improved from his 0.895% the season prior. Additionally, over crucial games during a relegation battle for Brynäs, Ersson posted a 0.949% save percentage over a five game stretch.
He’ll likely play in either the AHL with Lehigh Valley, or the ECHL with the Reading Royals. If how the Flyers handled fellow European goaltender Kirill Ustimenko is any indication, he could even split time between the two teams.
Ersson has been present at the Flyers’ development camp for the past two seasons, and with such a sensitive position as goalie, the more promising players brought in, the better.
