Preview: Winnipeg Jets @ Carolina Hurricanes

2 weeks ago  /  Arctic Ice Hockey

The Winnipeg Jets enter action on Sunday with a two game winning streak, largely thanks to the rediscovery of their scoring talents. Today’s 4 pm Central match against the Carolina Hurricanes will represent the second meeting of the season between the two franchises, with the Jets coming out victorious 3-0 at the Canada Life Centre in early February.

Winnipeg (44-16-4) will be finishing up a 4 game road trip today and they hope to return to Manitoba with a 3-1-0 record as they strive to lock up the top spot in the Central Division. The insertion of new defenseman Luke Schenn will have to wait a bit longer and it seems like the Jets will ice the same squad that faced the New Jersey Devils. No morning skate, so we won’t know for sure whether Connor Hellebuyck or Eric Comrie will start in net….but I would lean towards Bucky.

Carolina (37-22-4) have pulled out wins in their last 3 matches, even if the games all were tightly contested and ended with a one goal margin of victory. The Canes will have newly acquired Logan Stankoven in the lineup and PuckPedia is predicting he will get an initial shot on the top forward line, as the projected rosters below show:

Now that we have checked out the players, it is time to take a look at the statistics in Arctic Ice Hockey’s Match Up graphic and ESPN’s look at the potential goaltenders:

Apologies for the rush job on the Preview today…..my back kept me up most of the night and that meant I ended up sleeping until 1 pm to get enough rest. To make the time crunch even worse, the Manitoba Moose game starts soon (2 pm) and I want to watch that since the minor league affiliate has been heating up lately in their quest for a wildcard spot.

The numbers suggest that today’s clash between the Winnipeg Jets & Carolina Hurricanes should be a good one….lets hear your thoughts/predictions for the game in the Comment section.
