There was a lot of optimism for the New York Islanders’ first game back from the All-Star Break. The Islanders in a game where they never trailed, defeating the Metropolitan Division opponent for the second time this season. The Islanders’ power play was awful in the first half of the season, scoring on only 23 of their 148 opportunities. Instead, it looked similar to the hapless unit from the previous month where the Islanders averaged only goals per game. The Islanders’ offense has let them down this season, scoring only goals per game, and one game into the second half of the season, there’s been minimal signs of improvement....
