Utah HC Signs Barrett Hayton to Multi-Year Deal

1 month ago  /  NHL Trade Rumors

The Utah Hockey Club has made a notable move, as they have re-signed forward Barrett Hayton to a two-year contract with an AAV of $2.65 million. Hayton was a restricted free agent for Utah, but now they have gotten him inked to his new deal. He will now look to take a big step forward in his development during this latest contract from here. Hayton, 24, was selected by the Arizona Coyotes with the fifth-overall pick of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. The expectation is that he will become a top-six forward at the NHL level, but he has had some trouble cementing himself as one thus far. Yet, there is still plenty of time for him to change things on that front. Hayton appeared in 33 games this past season with the Coyotes, where he had three goals, 10 points, and a minus-13 rating. Overall, it was a down year for the Peterborough, Ontario native, but there is a reason to believe that he can bounce back next season. Just back during the 2022-23 season, the skilled forward had 19 goals to go along with 43 points in 82 games. Perhaps playing for Utah will help him get back to those numbers.Overall, this is a nice bridge deal for Hayton to have as he looks to become a key forward for Utah. Let's see how he performs for the club from here.photo credit: © Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports...
