‘Not if but when’ for Landeskog, but the real question is where does he fit? It's another installment of Mile High Pollster! Adrian Hernandez took to X this week to get the Colorado Avalanche fan perspective, and some interesting results have come back. Let's take a look!
'I get no respect'
I know I'm biased, but what on god's green earth does Bednar have to do to get a Jack Adams nom? This guy has somehow managed to keep this Avalanche on the right path despite the revolving door and cast of characters that have come and gone from this team. For goodness sake, the Avalanche might end up suiting and playing 50 different players in a single season. If the Avs were in any other division besides the stacked central, they'd be in first or second place in their division. The Avalanche are one regulation win away from logging 100 points for the fourth consecutive season. At the very least, respect Jared Bednar.

Another Makar in town
Last week, some cool news dropped as the Avalanche signed young Taylor Makar to a one-year entry-level deal, amounting to an ATO with the Colorado Eagles this season. Cale's younger brother (who doesn't look much younger) had an excellent season with Maine and earned himself this opportunity. I asked fans what their hopes, dreams, and expectations were for the new Makar in town, and most see him as a potential call-up. That's not a dire outlook for a 7th-round pick!

Leaders and leads
One of the not-so-fun themes of this regular season has come in the form of Colorado's vulnerabilities in the third period with the lead. It's funny, though, because before the two regulation losses in March and the two SO losses, the Avalanche had won every game (31-0-0) while leading and heading into the final frame. So I say that there's nothing to worry about. With that, 53.8% of 809 voters are concerned.

Are you worried about Colorado not maintaining 3rd period leads? #GoAvsGo— Adrian Hernandez (@AdoHernandez27) April 1, 2025

Do you take these results with a grain of salt with Colorado’s seemingly inevitable playoff fate? #GoAvsGo— Adrian Hernandez (@AdoHernandez27) April 1, 2025

Legend of Landeskog
Yes, Mr. Gabe Landeskog and his hopeful and inevitable return finally feel on the precipice of reality. Adding the Nordic captain will bolster Colorado's forward depth even further come playoff time, but where exactly do you see Landy slotting in? Since the Avalanche seem destined to start the playoffs as road warriors, would you like to see him debut in game one in Dallas or game three back at Ball Arena?

Would you rather Landeskog return game one or game three of the first round?#GoAvsGo | @MileHighHockey | @MHH_LAB— Adrian Hernandez (@AdoHernandez27) April 1, 2025

At least initially, limited games, sheltered bottom-6… and see how it goes. Results will dictate both during these playoffs and going forward.— Dan Charles (@dancharles) April 1, 2025

I say let him get up to speed in the time frame, which is games one and two on the road. Who knows, maybe the Avalanche will succeed in those games and split. That would make returning home in game three a considerable opportunity to swing the series, and inserting Gabe would invoke inspiration and desire not seen since the days of the Avs vs. Red Wings playoff matchups. I can see it now: Landy returns to take on Duchene, Rantanen, and Benn alongside Nate Dawg and Cale Makar. That's the stuff of legend.
As usual, please share your thoughts on the polls or expand on your answers in the comments. Again, thanks to those who participated and wrote in on the polls!
