Avalanche Rumors: 2 Potential Goalie Trade Targets Named
The Colorado Avalanche have had a shaky start to the season, as their 8-8-0 record effectively displays. A major reason for that has been their inconsistent goaltending.Because of this, in a recent video for The Fourth Period, Dennis Bernstein named Marc-Andre Fleury and John Gibson as potential goalie targets for the Avalanche. Fleury, 39, has confirmed that this will be his final season in the NHL. He has a complete no-movement clause, so he would need to give the green light for a move to the Avalanche or any other team. The Minnesota Wild have also had a very good start to the season, as they have a 10-2-3 record. Thus, a trade involving Fleury seems very unlikely right now. However, Gibson could be a realistic target for the Avalanche. The Anaheim Ducks have been listening to offers for the veteran, and he would welcome a change of scenery to a contender. When the Avalanche are playing their best, they are just that. Gibson, 31, just made his season debut on Nov. 10 against the Columbus Blue Jackets and was excellent. He stopped 38 out of 40 shots in the Ducks' win. Nevertheless, it will be very interesting to see what the Avalanche end up doing with their goaltending. There is no question that they could use an upgrade at the position right now. Photo Credit: © Stephen Brashear-Imagn Images...
