Hockey Notes Today
from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun,
- The Maple Leafs have the car, the body, the engine, the tires, the technology, the ingenuity, and the pit crew to win the big race. What they don’t have is the driver.
And you can’t win without one.
Petr Mrazek, at his absolute best, is not a Stanley Cup-winning goaltender. He may not be, at this troubled stage of his rather ordinary career, an NHL-caliber goalie. To expect him to become something he is not is temporary dreaming on the part of the Maple Leafs, which puts everything the franchise has proudly built into yet another holding pattern.
Jack Campbell is apparently hurt and out for two weeks — and, usually, two weeks means more than two weeks around the Leafs....
- Weird thing, building a hockey team. Vegas added Jack Eichel and before that Alex Pietrangelo and before that Max Pacioretty and Mark Stone. The more great players the Golden Knights seem to add, the worse the team plays. Vegas is now a 50-50 bet to make the playoffs in the Western Conference.
more on the first topic and additional hockey notes too, most are Toronto related......
