What Could Be The Next Kuemper For Dubois Trade?
The Washington Capitals and LA Kings made a big one-for-one trade last summer that has turned out extremely well for both sides. Darcy Kuemper had a very tough season in Washington in 2023-24 and is a top-5 goalie in the NHL this season. As for Dubois, he has bounced around a few teams, but not only has he played very well this season for the Capitals, he's fit in with the group.Kuemper and Dubois have shown great stuff before this season, but were at low points. The trade changed a lot for both and was great for both teams that are now playoff-bound this season. Who could be involved in the next big deal like this where two players are seeking a change in scenery? This potential trade is not a rumour, but a possible suggestion to the question. The Anaheim Ducks could trade Trevor Zegras to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Jonathan Marchessault. The Predators had a horrid season and are in need of a change of some sorts after a very poor season from start to finish. The big change would have to happen with one of their veterans signed for multiple years. Jonathan Marchessault's contract is easier to trade than Stamkos' and he is having a better season. The Ducks are set down the middle for years to come with Leo Carlsson, Mason McTavish, and Ryan Strone still playing there. What they need is impact wingers to play with them and for scoring to increase. Marchessault scored 42 goals last season. Even though he is down to 19, the Predators have been very bad. That being said, Zegras is a natural center, even though he has played the wing this season. Centermen is what the Predators desperately need and what they failed to add last offseason. Zegras is young and has two 23-goal, 60-point seasons under his belt. There may not be a player in the league more in need of a change in scenery. All of the skill is there. He just has to get away from the low scoring Ducks and the head coach. At this point, I think there could be a conversation where a one-for-one trade of this sort could happen, even with the age difference, but I'm not a GM. If I was, I would be satisfied with the return on either side though. Both are in need of a change and so are the teams.Photo credit: © Sergei Belski-Imagn Images...
