NHL Free Agency Rumors: Flyers Poised to Make Big Offer Sheet
Of all the teams that missed the playoffs this season, one team that is expected to be most aggressive this summer to make a big splash, is the Philaedelphia Flyers. Insider Elliotte Friedman insisted on the 32 Thoughts podcast that a big Offer Sheet is in the offing. That's one of the teams definitely that people look at and say, 'If this is going to be an Offer Sheet summer, Philly is going to be one of those teams'... They think big, they 'do' big, they're at the point where they're going to try something. They've had enough of being 'mid.'Everything is set up for the Flyers to go 'big' on an offer sheet, as they have all of their picks in 2026 in Rounds 1 through 4, and if they're looking at a significant offer over the $6.9 million AAV mark or more, first-, second-, and third-round picks in that draft will be needed as compensation. In addition, their massive draft capital in 2025 — no less than 7 picks in the first two rounds! — could be used to dangle in a big trade this summer as well. The Flyers already made one huge move, even before the regular season was done, firing head coach John Tortorella. There are already a number of names being bandied about as replacements, headed up by two-time NCAA national champion David Carle.Philly made a push for a playoff spot throughout most of the 2023-24 season, falling just four points short after a late-season swoon. But they took a big step back this year, dropping 11 points off their record, and finishing tied for last in the Eastern Conference. No doubt, "this is a big summer for Philly to go at their roster," as Friedman says. Photo: © Eric Hartline-Imagn Images ...
