NHL Rumors: Canucks Ask Forward to Waive No-Trade Clause
According to reports the Vancouver Canucks have contacted forward Tanner Pearson, asking for the veteran to waive his no-trade protection ahead of the deadline. So far it's yet to be confirmed if Pearson has given management the green light. It shouldn't come as too much of a surprise considering Canucks president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford was the one responsible for Pearson ending up in Vancouver, after dealing him from the Pittsburgh Penguins for Erik Gudbranson. Believe Canucks are continuing to see if they can move Tanner Pearson. Will be easier in the summer when his NTC drops to just a 7 team list but still not impossible now.— Patrick Johnston (@risingaction) March 21, 2022 The 29-year-old Canucks forward is in the first season of a three-year deal and holds a full no-trade this season, which goes down to a modified no-trade in 2022-23 where Pearson will submit a list of seven teams he'd like to avoid. The following season the protection disappears entirely. #GoKingsGo have done their due diligence on multiple #Canucks forwards. Connor Garland has been their main target, however they wouldn’t mind a reunion with Tanner Pearson, sources say.— Kai Parker (@kaiparker_11) March 19, 2022 So far in 2021-22, Pearson has recorded 13 goals 31 points in 60 games and could provide a playoff bound team with someone who can play the wing up and down the lineup. His cap hit of $3.25 million is the biggest reasons the Canucks would like to move on from him as they are looking to lock up Brock Boeser to a long-term deal in the offseason. So far the Los Angeles Kings, Nashville Predators and Washington Capitals have shown interest but at this point nothing seems to be imminent.Photo credit: Bob Frid-USA TODAY Sports...
