The Isles don’t have a lot of cap space and likely will be quiet. The tampering is extremely bad this year, to the point that I wonder if the league steps in. It seems like most of the major free agents have already agreed to deals.
As you might imagine, there hasn’t been any roster news about the New York Islanders despite all the leaks of agreed-upon deals—they don’t leak much and they lack cap space at the moment. But they announced the Doug Houda replacement: Tommy Albelin, a Lou Lamoriello acolyte.
I’m going to guess the Isles don’t get up to much else today. Maybe a depth signing, but they probably won’t be big players. But there are rumors that Long Island native Shane Pinto asked for a trade away from Ottawa and that the Islanders are interested. [eye emoji] J-G Pageau and picks?
Also, old friend Barry Trotz appears to have reeled in Steven Stamkos and might land Jonathan Marchessault, among others.
