Canucks Rumors: Insider Speaks On Vancouver Trade Rumors
Insider Elliotte Friedman recently discussed the Vancouver Canucks' trade ambitions on the Donnie & Dhali podcast, as reported by Mark Easson of NHL Trade Rumors. According to Friedman, the Canucks, under Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin, are actively exploring the market, with a primary focus on defensive reinforcements. Describing the team’s approach as “fly fishing,” Friedman highlighted that Rutherford and Allvin are “going out there and going for stuff” to strengthen the roster. However, the tight market for defensemen, compounded by competition from teams like the New York Islanders—who are dealing with left-shot injuries—and Utah's new NHL franchise, makes the pursuit challenging."I don't know that he is available right now.."@FriedgeHNIC joined us earlier today and talked about Bowen Byram's availability in a trade and how aggressive the #Canucks are right now.Full interview..https://t.co/Xu10LTQlrr pic.twitter.com/tvftTBjTxb— Donnie & Dhali (@DonnieandDhali) November 5, 2024 Despite their external search, the Canucks are carefully evaluating internal options as well. Friedman mentioned recent call-ups like Aatu Räty and potential NHL-ready prospects such as Jonathan Lekkerimäki, suggesting that Vancouver may try to address some roster needs from within. “The best way to solve your problem…is always internally,” Friedman noted, reflecting Rutherford's philosophy of fostering talent development before making external moves.Photo Credit: Bob Frid-Imagn Images...
