NHL Rumors: Senators Goalie Drawing Interest
According to Frank Seravalli, multiple teams are interested in Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg. Forsberg has been having a very solid season, so it makes sense that teams are considering him. In 16 appearances this campaign, he sports a 7-6-1 record, 3.01 goals-against average, and .912 save percentage. With numbers like these, he could be a very solid backup goaltender for a team looking to go on a playoff run. Other teams like the Edmonton Oilers and Washington Capitals, for example, could consider the 29-year-old when looking at their goaltending woes this season.Although teams are interested in Forsberg, we also reported yesterday how the Senators are open to signing him to an extension, too. Thus, it seems probable that they would like to explore that avenue first before striking a deal involving him. The Senators have many players who we could see dealt this season. Besides Forsberg having an expiring contract, players like Nick Paul, Chris Tierney, and Tyler Ennis also are pending UFAs. Yet, with the team signing Nick Holden to an extension, it seems that they aren't against doing it with other rental candidates, too.Alas, it will be interesting to see what occurs with Forsberg from here.
