An Embarrassing Loss By The Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens’ Josh Anderson said he was embarrassed after Tuesday night’s 7-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils at the Bell Centre.

He should be — and so should every member of the team and coaching staff.

So should team owner/president Geoff Molson.

In a season with so many low points, the Canadiens hit a new one, getting blown out by a team that was winless in its previous seven games and had played the night before, losing 4-1 to the Senators in Ottawa.

The Canadiens were coming back from their bye week in the schedule and should have been rested and ready.

Instead they were terrible — again — showing why they are the worst team in the NHL with an 8-30-7 record.

“We got embarrassed out there tonight,” Anderson said. “We had a couple of mistakes that cost us goals (in the first period). You’d think after the break that we’d be refreshed and ready to go. But you guys witnessed it out there.

“I feel embarrassed, to be honest with you. So we better be ready to go next game.”
