Boston Bruins Give Update On Brad Marchand Injury
The Boston Bruins lost forward Brad Marchand during the second period of Thursday's 4-3 win over the Capitals due to a shoulder injury sustained a few shifts earlier when he was hit into the boards by Garnet Hathaway. Marchand skated off the ice and tried to play, but the Bruins veteran was seen wincing on the bench and even seemed unable to lift his arms when the team scored a goal. Here is the play in which the injury occurred:Here’s another look at Garnet Hathaway’s cheap shot on Brad Marchand (who has left the game with an upper body injury):Definitely the right shoulder…not good. pic.twitter.com/hgqUWjSDTM— Blake Thorne (@_BlakeThorne) January 21, 2022 As soon as it was reported that Marchand left the game and would not be returning, worry rushed over Bruins fans as they just started playing some of their best hockey and are 8-2 in their last 10 games. A long-term injury would be potentially disastrous for a team that hopes they can make a Cup run.Head Coach Bruce Cassidy did provide an update on Friday on Brad Marchand's injury and while he didn't say much, according to The Athletic, he did at least rule the feisty winger out of Saturday's matchup with the Nashville Predators and had this to say about his availability moving forward:Unfortunately, Brad’s going to miss a little bit of time...The Bruins could use Marchand's grit and ability to get players off of their game against a tough team like Nashville (and many others, of course) and the Bruins are hoping he can return to the lineup soon, although Cassidy doesn't sound too optimistic. Expect an update on Marchand's status over the weekend.Photo Credit: © Tom Szczerbowski-USA TODAY Sports...
