3 Potential Trade Destinations for Ducks' Trevor Zegras
The Anaheim Ducks have been getting a laundry list of teams calling to see what GM Pat Verbeek is going to do with forward Trevor Zegras, and from all counts, Verbeek is open to moving the talented winger.Zegras has been inconsistent throughout his tenure with the Ducks, including this season, tallying just six goals and 15 points, in 32 games. Zegras is 10th on the Ducks in scoring, despite making $5.75 million AAV against the cap. He's under contract through next season, and will be a restricted free agent after the 2025-26 season, and it's worth noting Zegras doesn't have any trade protection on his contract. Here's where the 23-year-old winger could end up before the March 7 trade deadline:Trevor Zegras starts off VERY SLOW before turning it up and scoring the shootout winner in fashion‼️ 🦆 pic.twitter.com/Cjildx2pKY— Spittin' Chiclets (@spittinchiclets) February 9, 2025 Colorado AvalancheThe Avs have been scouting Zegras hard and could swap Casey Mittelstadt in exchange. Colorado has been shopping Mittelstadt and are trying to get out from underneath his contract, however, it may take another team to be involved as Mittelstadt doesn't necessarily fit with what the Ducks are looking for moving forward. As far as Zegras goes, the Avs would be an ideal spot for him to hit the reset button on his career. Remind yourselves, he's just 23.Trevor Zegras is the NHL all-time shootout % leader with a minimum of 15 attempts. He is 13/20 in his career, and sitting atop of the list at 65%#FlyTogether— Trevor Zebras (@ZegrasTrevor) February 9, 2025 Chicago BlackhawksThe Blackhawks continue to search for talent to surround Connor Bedard, and considering Zegras is still only 23 years old, there's plenty of untapped potential and a chance for him to reset himself in the windy city. Yes, they better have a defensively responsible winger on the other side of them, but Bedard and Zegras have elite offensive minds, and seeing them create on the ice could be very entertaining for years to come. Chicago has the money and the assets to get a deal done, we'll see where this one goes.Buffalo SabresThe Sabres are going to re-tool on the fly once again this deadline, as GM Kevin Adams has been busy talking to several teams regarding Dylan Cozens, and has been reportedly engaged with the Tampa Bay Lightning regarding Alex Tuch. Zegras would give them a forward with massive potential, but it would be a huge gamble for Adams, who is skating on thin ice already in Buffalo.Photo credit: Mark Edwards, Imagn ImagesShould the Calgary Flames make a trade for Trevor Zegras?
