The Winnipeg Jets are playing the Buffalo Sabres tonight, a team that has shown massive improvement this year. However, the Jets have also shown massive improvement this season following last season’s coaching combination of Paul Maurice and Dave Lowry. Alas, all is not good in Jetsland.
The past two games the Jets have played in have featured 23 goals with the Jets winning one of the games and losing the other. For some reason they have forgotten how to defend in the past couple games. Do not expect any changes on defence though as Ville Heinola is still out with an illness and not ready to play. The Jets will remain with their status quo on defence because of that.
The Sabres have been a stronger team this year partially due to the play of Tage Thompson. There were some charts the other day on Twitter that showed just how much damage former head coach Ralph Krueger did to the team. He sunk the team and basically took away all their offence and they have been slowly building it back up under Don Granato. Do not doubt the power of a head coach.
The Jets will not be facing former goalie Eric Comrie who just returned from injury, but Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, who is the Sabres starter. It is likely that Connor Hellebuyck will get the start tonight and hopefully bounce back after an uncharacteristic game against the Red Wings. Kevin Stenlund is expected back in the lineup tonight after being sick on Tuesday night. ...
