  • WINNIPEG -- Connor McDavid reached 70 points for the Edmonton Oilers in a 3-0 win against the Winnipeg Jets at Bell MTS Place on Saturday.
  • McDavid, who had two assists, became the first player to score 70 points this season (71; 23 goals, 48 assists).
  • The Oilers are three points behind the Jets for second place in the seven-team Scotia North Division.
  • Barrie gave the Oilers a 1-0 lead when he one-timed a pass from McDavid for a power-play goal at 12:00 of the second period.
  • Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl had two assists; he's second in the NHL with 63 points (22 goals, 41 assists).
  • NOTES: Among seasons in the NHL expansion era (since 1967-68) that played a schedule of 56 games or fewer, McDavid is the third player to score 70 points, joining Eric Lindros of the Philadelphia Flyers (70 in 46 games) and Jaromir Jagr of the Pittsburgh Penguins (70 in 48 games)
