Makenna Webster, the top available scorer in the NCAA Transfer Portal this season, will transfer to play for the reigning national champions, Ohio State, next season.
Webster was one of the top recruits in the nation when she joined Wisconsin in the fall of 2020, having participated three times on the US women’s U18 team, winning a pair of gold medals in the process. Between the general wonkiness of the pandemic-shortened and a smaller role on a deep Wisconsin team, Webster tallied only 13 points in 21 games as a rookie. But with a bigger role in her sophomore season, she was a breakout player, scoring 23-30-53 in 38 games, finishing tied for 9th nationally in scoring.

It’s a huge recruiting coup for Ohio State, who has been among the most active programs in bringing in top players from the Transfer Portal. Last season, the Buckeyes were able to add a point-per-game scorer in Clair DeGeorge from the Portal, along with some defenders that played a huge role in their title run. With the addition of Webster, the Buckeyes should be able to reload their offensive attack for a chance at defending their title....
