Chuck Fletcher told reporters today that Sean Couturier and Ryan Ellis may need to have season-ending surgeries.#Flyers Chuck Fletcher says Ryan Ellis and Sean Couturier may require surgeries that end their seasons. His recommendation to medical staff, given where they are in the standings, is to “get them right for next year.”“We’ve got a long road ahead of us.”— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) January 26, 2022 This is only more bad news to what has been a horrible season for the Flyers. At this juncture of the campaign, they have a 13-22-8 record. With that, they have lost 13 straight games and aren't showing any signs of improvement. This was certainly not expected of them after the big summer of spending they had. It's been a bit of a down year for Couturier this season. In 29 games, he has six goals, 17 points, and a minus-6 rating. This is fresh off of signing an eight-year, $62 million contract extension with the team. He is one of the top two-way centers in the league when he's on his game, so he will be aiming to bounce back from here.Ellis was one of the team's big offseason additions. When healthy, he played quite well, as he had a goal and five points in four games. However, he obviously has barely played, and that has been rough for the Flyers. The veteran defenseman is having a very hard start to his tenure with the Flyers, but perhaps he will be able to stay healthy far more often once he's able to return.Alas, we should find out soon if these two end up getting their surgeries.Photo Credit: © Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports...
