Time for the madness of the offseason to unfold. The most significant part of the NHL offseason begins this morning at 10:00 a.m. MT. Free agency is the time for several people’s dreams of certain players joining their teams to either come true or fall short.
The Colorado Avalanche doesn’t have much cap space to work around and sign big-name players. Instead, look for them to fill the gaps with players who are a bit cheaper but still have some edge. The team could also do some internal work, with several players under their wing as UFAs at the moment.
The biggest name is Jonathan Drouin, and both parties want him to stay in Colorado, but it seems impossible based on the circumstances. They also have Yakov Trenin, Brandon Duhaime, Jack Johnson, and Caleb Jones, who could look to re-sign.
They will certainly be active on the market, looking for whatever is a good fit during free agency. We will be doing a live show reacting to all the moves on the Mile High Hockey Lab Podcast, where you can get the news first about the moves made by the Avs and around the league!
Hang on, because some of these moves will change the hockey world and Avs world. Be sure to follow along with it all with the rest of the community in the comments below!...
