Dallas Stars and Arizona Coyotes Complete Goalie Trade

The Dallas Stars and Arizona Coyotes completed a deal late Sunday night as the Stars acquired goaltender Scott Wedgewood in exchange for a conditional fourth-round draft pick in 2023. ESPN's Kevin Weekes reported the news as he's quickly becoming one of the hottest insiders on the league.**Breaking News** 🚨📰I’m told @Coyotes trade G Scott Wedgwood to the @DallasStars for a conditional 4th Rd Pick in 2023.@espn @NHLNetwork #HockeyTwitter pic.twitter.com/ISaibVkvR4— Kevin Weekes (@KevinWeekes) March 21, 2022 After the Stars were trying to move a goalie earlier on this season, they now acquire Wedgewood who's been solid on a bad team in the desert. So far in 26 games this season the 29-year-old has managed a .911 save percentage, impressive considering the Coyotes aren't necessarily known for keeping the puck out of their own net. Wedgewood makes $825,000 against the cap and is a pending unrestricted free agent. Dallas is 6-4 in their last 10 games and sit one point behind the Vegas Golden Knights for the second wild card spot in the western conference. Also worth noting the Stars have three games in hand, so the math is certainly in their favor.Wedgewood may not be the only rental the Stars end up acquiring before the trade deadline as the team has been busy discussing trades involving their own rental John Klingberg. The mobile defenseman mentioned earlier in the year it didn't feel appreciated in Dallas and trade rumors have been rampant ever since. It will take a huge package to land the right-handed veteran as he's a big piece to their success and the Stars are still very well in the mix in the west. Photo credit:  Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports...
