A slew of recent injuries have left the New York Islanders not only without Mat Barzal, but with some significant holes on their blueline as well.  Per Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada, GM Lou Lamoriello is now looking around the trade market to see if he can land himself a defenseman. We're starting to wonder about the Islanders and their injuries. It's believed the Islanders are at least looking around. They have three defensemen out... They are at least sniffing around to see what's out there.Top-four D-man Adam Pelech, it was announced this weekend, is out for four-to-six weeks with an upper-body injury. He took a puck to the face and left midway through Friday's game against the Buffalo Sabres. He had four assists in 11 games this season.Just after that incident, fellow defender Mike Reilly joined him on the walking wounded brigade, after being hit into the boards by Jordan Greenway. He's listed as day-to-day right now. Meantime, Alex Romanov remains day-to-day after missing a few games, then returning on Friday, leaving the game briefly, only to return after Pelech and Reilly went down. Asked #Isles Romanov about leaving the game with an injury but coming back in:"I can't just leave my teammates with three D. I can't do that. I watched in medical room and saw two guys were hurt. I can't just leave them."Roy, yet again, called Romanov a beast for battling.— Stefen Rosner (@stefen_rosner) November 2, 2024 The Islanders took a 4-5-2 record into a Sunday afternoon tilt at Madison Square Garden with their heated rivals the NY Rangers (7-2-1), a tough matchup without a big chunk of their blueline. Photo: © Eric Hartline-Imagn Images...
