Top 5 Trade Candidates Who Did NOT Move Today
Trade Deadline Day did not disappoint at all in 2025. A huge flurry of deals marked the final hours, from the overnight blockbuster of Mikko Rantanen being dealt to the Dallas Stars (before finally agreeing on an extension midday), to the last-second shocking trade of Bruins' icon Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers. But there were still some notable names that did not get dealt on deadline day, so here's a quick shout-out to those who can unpack their bags and will be staying put until the end of the season at least.Brock Boeser, Vancouver CanucksAfter the pending UFA turned down the Canucks' five-year extension offer earlier in the season, a move at the deadline was certainly on the table, but never a sure thing. Now Vancouver will ride it out with the scoring winger, and try once again to come up with an extension before July 1. Rickard Rakell, Pittsburgh PenguinsGM Kyle Dubas did not have to trade Rakell, who still has 3 years remaining at a $5 million AAV. But the offers were coming in as his value has never been higher. The Pens elected to hold onto him.Bowen Byram, Buffalo SabresHis name was on the rumor mill all season long as the Sabres are suffering through another disappointing year and the vultures were circling. But now, as they hang on to the pending RFA, he's even a candidate to be signed up to a long-term extension at some point. Rasmus Ristolainen, Philadelphia FlyersIn a renaissance season, he's actually become a favorite of head coach John Tortorella, and the Flyers were asking a huge haul for him, said to be a 1st round pick, a prospect and another player. He remains a Flyer. He has two years remaining on a $5.1 million AAV.Brayden Schenn, St. Louis BluesIt was never a sure thing that the Blues would move on from their captain, and they, too, set a very high price. He still has three years to go on a $6.5 million cap hit. Nobody was able to meet their ask.Honorable mention: Chris Kreider, NY Rangers.Photo: © Simon Fearn-Imagn Images...
