Anaheim Ducks Rumors: Goalie "Amenable" To Trade To One Of 3 Teams
The rumors have been out there. But now the Anaheim Ducks have even more reason to find a taker for veteran goaltender John Gibson: He's okay with it. The 10-year veteran has a 10-team no-trade list, but with the Ducks in the deepest depths of an all-out rebuild, he's open to a trade, according to NHL Insiders Michael Russo and Eric Duhatschek:The feeling is that he would be amenable to a move to a contender because the Ducks are not going to be a playoff team for years to come. His contract is reasonable — $6.4 million for four more years — if you believe that playing behind a team with better overall defense means he’d still be a top-10 NHL goalie. But while he does have a veto on 10 teams, he's not really anxious to go to just any of the other 21 teams, per the report. The "suspicion" is that he has a preference list of three teams: Vegas Golden KnightsLos Angeles KingsPittsburgh PenguinsThe Golden Knights goaltending situation has changed hands multiple times this season, including in these playoffs (due to injuries). There's no telling where it'll land when all is said and done, or if they'd have any interest in bringing in Gibson. If the Kings are unable to re-sign Joonas Korpisalo, perhaps they'd be interested if they can't find a better option; and if the Pens' new front office doesn't want to bring back Tristan Jarry, perhaps they'd be a match.Gibson was once a top 10 goalie in the league, but playing behind a porous Ducks defense this year (most goals allowed, most shots allowed) didn't do wonders for his numbers. He finished the season with a league-worst 31 losses (14-31-8) and a league-worst 200 goals allowed with an .899 save percentage. The 29-year-old's career marks are much better, of course, with a 2.83 GAA and a .912 SV%.Photo: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports...Read Full Article.
