Preview: Winnipeg Jets vs. New Jersey Devils

The Winnipeg Jets and New Jersey Devils are playing in New Jersey tonight and for a team that used to be boring, the Devils have managed to become a fairly exciting team with some talented young players on it. Yes, I know it is shocking. Somehow firing Lou Lamerillo (I think he was fired, maybe he just left as it was a long time ago) helped change the team for the better in the long term. Anyways.
The Jets are in a bit of a slump right now. They thought their nearly two week break would help cure them of their woes, but that does not appear to be the case. The Jets overall have some needs they need to fill at the trade deadline and that might be the kickstart that they need for the final bit of the season and the playoffs. The Jets are not in need of more bottom six players (or even middle six), but bonafide scorers or a top four defenceman. The price tag could be higher than the Jets want to go, but banners fly forever.
Outside of the loss, there were some obvious issues in the game against Columbus. Nikolaj Ehlers ice time was quite low due to the fact he does not play a lot of specialty teams being on the second unit power play. It seems rather crazy that the Jets best forward does not get ample power play time especially when having possession of the puck is key and Ehlers helps in that area especially on entries.
The Jets will have their hands full in New Jersey tonight because of their recent play. They will have Connor Hellebuyck back in goal after he was out with an illness. ...
