The Winnipeg Jets and Washington Capitals are playing their last game before their league-mandated three day Christmas Break. They will be one of the few earlier games still going on tomorrow as some games have been postponed due to the horrible winter weather expected to hit some areas of Canada and the US tomorrow. The Jets will be missing all that weather and unless the cold is considered bad weather, then they will have nothing stopping them from returning home after.
The Jets had a bad game against the Capitals last time they played on December 11. It was a game where the Jets looked lifeless and bad. They will be looking to avenge that performance and put together a more complete game then they had against Boston when they started strong, but faded after the first period.
The Jets will not be facing a fresh team as the Capitals also played last night, beating the Ottawa Senators in overtime in Ottawa. This means that like the Jets they will be travelling before being able to sleep which is sometimes a factor in back to back games. In this case there is no real advantage to either team. It might also impact which goalie both teams start. While common wisdom says you start your other goalie, with two tired teams they might start their starter and roll the dice. Who knows anymore. And who knows if the Jets will have any lineup changes even if inserting a fresh body would probably do some good. ...
